Scholarships
There are many scholarships available that might help you pay
for your education. Take a look at the schools you would like
to attend and see if they offer any programs that you might
qualify for. Think about the clubs, teams, groups and organizations
that you are a member of now. Do any of those organizations
offer college scholarships? The federal government and many states, businesses, religious groups and professional associations also offer scholarships.
You can receive scholarships for many reasons, including
financial need, academic performance, athletics or music,
religious affiliation, minority status, field of study, and
more. The key to winning scholarships is to apply early. Many
of these programs are valid for every year you are in school
so don’t forget to apply for scholarships every year
to help pay for your education. You may be eligible for other
programs as well.
Many online resources are available to search for scholarship
opportunities, but don’t rely on any one source. Do your own research, and ask at school, at work (yours and your parents’), at your church or synagogue and at social and civic organizations. If you are interested in a particular field of study, contact firms or organizations in that field and ask if they offer scholarships. Your best bet is to do some legwork,
do it early, and do it often. You’d be surprised how
much free money is available for the dedicated student.
